		Sewing Cloaks

Making a cloak is really quite easy. There are only a few rules to success, but you do have to decide which way you're going with the fabric you buy.

Before you start know these . . .

You don't need a linning, BUT it will hide the seams unless do flat-feled seams and a linning adds a lot of flash. Can also add warmth, comfort and ...
don't sew the hems together, it won't drap properly and it'll all ballon out, it'll look terable. except in the cases short capes and quilted half circle cloaks. If you sew the linning and outer hems together you'll have made a big bag leaving them oppen lets the air out and helps the two layers cling tother better.
Interfacing down the front edges will give stiffness and straitness to the edge, and keep it well behaved.
Hang the cloak for a day or two or four, this allows the fabric to deform and stretch on the bias, beter to do this before you hem it so you won't have to do it again.
put it on, stand strait, get a friend to mark the hem. if full length cut it off at the floor when you turn the hem up it won't drag on the floor later, not so dirty.
After hanging cut the hem. You can sew it after that.

Now go make your cloak

In the case aof a very full and heavy cloak you may want to sew a non rusting chain inside the front edges for added front weight and better control, not to heavy just enough
