Shoe Laces
Tie 'em on or they'll fall off
For the most part all shoes have laces and so we need to talk about them. I like laces too. Theey are the only part of your sneakers you get to add your own artistry, Or not. Sometimes I don't do anything special or fancy with my laces, but once and while I like to go way over-board in the laces department.

When I started this wweb Site I wanted to setup a big section on laces but it was a daunting task to me and I couldn't even think of how to start that. Then I recently discovered a fantastic web site devoted entierly to shoelaces and I think it's wonderful, because Ian covers the subject of laces very well, exellentlly in fact. He's covered the whole things beautifully and thuroughly. Also, I don't have to do a big laces section, thank you Ian. So I erge you to go to Ian's Shoelace Site for all your laces needs and concernes.

Ian's Shoelace Site - Bringing you the fun, fashion & science of shoelaces

It is important to tie and untie your shoelaces, Wearing shoes that are too lose can be both dangerous and harm your feet. tieing them too tightly will harm your feet as well. So the big trick is how tight should they be. Well the big trick is to stop, or never, think that you can get away with only tieing your shoes once. The way your shoes are tied should differ for various situations. Any climber will tell you that you'll need to, or should, adjust your laces seveal times acording to the terrain. Your feet need to be in different positions in your shoes/boots when you're climbing up hill, than when you're going down. The way to do that is to adjust the laces.

How to tie your shoes
I'm not talking here about how to tie the knot to hold you laces closed, how to comfortably tie your shoes. I find that most people have some difficulty getting down to their feet to tie their shoes. Well I've allways brought my feet to my hands. If standing at the bottom of stairs, step up two or three steps, then lean over to tie your shoe. A chair seat is good too, getting a foot up off the floor and bring it closser to sholders makes the laces much easier to reach. For those of considerable size, with back injuries, arthritis and any other bending over trouble will find this helps.
