Concrete of far above average quality was poured 24 hours a day and the lower grew, at times more than 20 feet per day. To ensure a truly perpendicular tower, an assortment of precision made optical instruments were used, backed up by Canada's longest plumb bob - a 250 pound steel cylinder attached to a steel aviation cable suspended from the deck through the core of the tower.
